Gaviota
The Gaviota facility, located 8 km off the coast of Bermeo in the Bay of Biscay, Spain, is an underground natural gas storage facility. It was originally a Repsol gas field that was converted into a key, fixed-platform storage facility, now owned and operated by Enagás. It consists of an offshore platform connected via a subsea pipeline to an onshore processing plant. Its design is a fixed steel jacket platform anchored to the seabed with 20 pylons.

Field
The reservoir is a depleted gas field located 2,150 m deep in fractured limestone formations. Surface Area: Covers approximately 64km2. Capacity: Operational Capacity: ~979 million m3 (standard gas). Total Storage Capacity: ~2,681 million m3 (including cushion gas). Daily Flow: Injection capacity of ~4.5 million m3/day and extraction capacity of ~5.7 million m3/day.
Facilities
Drilling & Workover: Includes a recently revamped drilling rig used for well maintenance and workover campaigns. Compression & Processing: Equipment for gas injection and extraction, including sensors and a flare system for safe disposal of excess waste gases. Power & Electrical: Modernised electrical system featuring a 30 kV main substation, 6 kV and 0.4 kV switchgears, and integration with a Distributed Control System (DCS). Support Systems: Custom Marine Growth Prevention System (MGPS) treating up to 3,000 of seawater per hour to protect pipes from corrosion and incrustation. Staff Amenities: On-platform accommodation and a heliport for personnel transport.
