Gorm A

Gorm A is a fixed steel jacket wellhead platform in the Danish North Sea, installed in 1979 as one of the primary production interfaces for the Gorm oil and gas field. It produces oil and gas and routes well fluids to the central processing facility on Gorm C. It has multiple drilling and well slots and forms part of a bridge-linked cluster of Gorm installations.

Field

The Gorm field, located in Blocks 5504/15 and 5504/16 of the Danish North Sea, was discovered in 1971 and began production in 1981. It is one of Denmark's largest oil and gas accumulations, producing from Danian and Upper Cretaceous chalk reservoirs with structural closures typical of North Sea chalk plays.

Facilities

Gorm A supports several production wells drilled into the chalk reservoir and functions as a collection point for hydrocarbons. It is bridge-linked to the central processing platform Gorm C, where three-phase separation, oil stabilization, gas processing and produced water treatment are performed. Well fluids from A are routed via subsea and topside pipelines to C, where gas may be conditioned and export liquids stabilized. Power generation on Gorm A is limited to well control, safety systems, and communications; major utilities (power, water handling, fire/gas systems) are centralized on Gorm C. Export infrastructure connects Gorm C and the riser platform Gorm E for pipeline transport of stabilized oil to shore and subsea pipelines for gas to the Tyra hub. Gorm A's design reflects early Danish North Sea practice of separating wellhead and processing functions across multiple interconnected jackets.
