Mittelplate A combines drilling and production facilities on a purpose-built island; it supports multiple production wells accessing reservoirs via both offshore and extended-reach land wells. The island includes separation equipment for stabilizing crude, produced-water handling systems, and facilities for gas handling where necessary. Oil is exported by pipeline to Friedrichskoog/Dieksand and then onward to onshore processing or refinery sites. Utilities include power generation, water handling infrastructure, fire and safety systems, and living quarters for crew. The platform's fixed island structure is protected with sheet piling to defend against tidal conditions. The reservoir is accessed with horizontal drilling technology to enhance recovery. Stable infrastructure includes robust control systems, pipeline export networks, and environmental mitigation measures to protect the sensitive Wadden Sea area.
