Dalia FPSO
Dalia FPSO is a purpose-built floating production, storage and offloading vessel handling heavy crude oil and associated gas from Angola’s Dalia development. First production began in December 2006. The vessel is moored in approximately 1,200–1,500 metres of water, receives production from a large subsea well network, stores stabilised crude in its hull and exports oil through a separate offshore loading buoy.

Field
Dalia lies in Block 17, approximately 135 kilometres offshore Angola in the deep-water Lower Congo Basin. It is a giant oil accumulation developed with a subsea production system and central FPSO. The reservoirs comprise heterogeneous Lower Miocene deep-marine turbidite channel and lobe sandstones, commonly associated with the Malembo Formation. Their architecture includes stacked and laterally migrating channel complexes containing relatively viscous crude.
Facilities
The Dalia development uses an extensive subsea architecture connected to the FPSO by production flowlines, injection lines, risers and control umbilicals. The original development plan covered 71 subsea wells; publicly documented categories include 34 production wells, 30 water-injection wells and three gas-injection wells. Horizontal subsea trees permit drilling and completion through the tree and support highly deviated reservoir sections. Production is gathered through subsea manifolds before being routed to the vessel. Topsides processing separates oil, gas and produced water, stabilises the crude, compresses associated gas and treats produced water. Large seawater-treatment and water-injection facilities provide reservoir-pressure support, while gas-injection equipment returns selected gas to the reservoir. Installed electrical generation totals approximately 66 MW. The purpose-built hull is about 300 metres long, 60 metres wide and 32 metres deep, with approximately two million barrels of crude-storage capacity. The vessel is maintained on station by an internal turret mooring system accommodating the production, injection and control risers. Stabilised oil is not loaded directly alongside the FPSO. It is transferred through two large-bore flexible export lines to a CALM-type offshore loading buoy positioned roughly 1.9 kilometres from the vessel, where export tankers connect through floating hoses. Permanent support systems include gas turbines, seawater lift, chemical injection, metering, flare and relief equipment, firewater, process control, emergency shutdown, marine utilities and accommodation for normal operations and major maintenance periods.
