Bokor

A shallow-water fixed-platform oil-and-gas production complex offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, in about 67–70 metres of water. Production began in 1982. The installation gathers well fluids from drilling and wellhead platforms, provides central processing and compression, supports gas-lift and water-injection service, and routes treated hydrocarbons through the wider Baram Delta offshore network. Its permanent facilities are connected by infield pipelines and cables.

Field

Bokor lies in the West Baram Delta area of the Sarawak Basin, roughly 45 kilometres offshore. It is a mature, large oil field with associated gas, developed through a distributed fixed-platform concept. The reservoirs comprise numerous vertically stacked Miocene deltaic to shallow-marine sandstones, structurally complicated by delta-related faulting and folding; published studies describe approximately 150 separate reservoir intervals across the field.

Facilities

The Bokor development is a network of steel-jacket installations rather than a single processing unit. Public descriptions identify a central processing platform, a production platform, a compression platform and multiple wellhead or drilling platforms, linked by permanent infield pipelines. Platform wells provide the production system. Gas lift was the original artificial-lift method, and field case studies also document conversion of selected wells to electric submersible pumps. Dedicated compression facilities condition associated gas for gas-lift service and export. The field is physically interconnected with the nearby Betty system for high-pressure gas transfer. Water injection is installed for reservoir-pressure support. The principal central processing platform stands in approximately 70 metres of water. Its topsides weigh about 11,500 tonnes and were installed by float-over. It receives production from the surrounding wellhead structures and provides the field’s central oil-and-gas processing, gas compression, injection-water distribution and pipeline interfaces. Additional wellhead platforms extend the drilling and production footprint and feed the hub through subsea flowlines. Lift gas and injection water are distributed back to producing and injection wells through the connected platform network. The permanent architecture therefore separates well access among satellite jackets while concentrating processing and compression at central facilities. Associated gas is compressed for gas-lift service and export through the field pipeline system.
