Bach Ho
A mature shallow-water oil-production complex in Vietnam’s Cuu Long Basin, about 145 kilometres southeast of Vung Tau. First commercial oil was produced in 1986. In roughly 60 metres of water, numerous fixed drilling and wellhead platforms feed central processing, water-injection and gas-compression facilities. Crude is transferred to floating storage and offloading vessels, while associated gas is gathered, compressed and routed through offshore pipelines.

Field
Bach Ho, or White Tiger, is a giant oil field east of the Mekong Delta in the Vietnamese sector of the East Sea. Its principal reservoir is highly fractured Jurassic–Cretaceous granitic and granodioritic basement forming a buried horst. Secondary production occurs from Oligocene and Miocene sandstones. Upper Oligocene lacustrine shales provide the main source rocks and regional sealing section. Development uses a dense, multi-platform fixed-facility network.
Facilities
Bach Ho is developed through a distributed network of fixed steel-jacket drilling and wellhead platforms, central processing platforms, dedicated water-injection facilities, gas-compression platforms and floating storage and offloading vessels. Platform wells produce from the fractured basement and shallower clastic intervals. Satellite wellhead platforms include compact normally unattended BK units that route multiphase fluids through permanent pipelines to host installations. BK-20 is remotely controlled from CPP-3, while BK-21 receives electrical power from MSP-6 and gas lift and injection water from MSP-7. At the central platforms, incoming wellstreams are separated into crude, associated gas and produced water. Crude is transferred through infield pipelines to moored FSOs, which provide storage and offload to export tankers. Associated gas is gathered and treated in the offshore gas system. The central compression platform, commissioned in 1997, supplies high-pressure gas for the field’s extensive gas-lift network and supports onward gas transportation to shore. Dedicated water-injection platforms pump injection water into dedicated wells to maintain pressure in the fractured basement reservoir. CPP-3 is part of a production complex incorporating central processing and water-injection functions and also receives a subsea tie-back from the Ca Ngu Vang field. Across the broader White Tiger–Dragon system, permanent oil, gas and water pipelines link wellhead platforms, CPPs, injection platforms, compression facilities and FSOs. The overall design is a hub-and-satellite fixed-platform network rather than a single integrated production vessel.
