Morpeth TLP

Morpeth is a deepwater tension leg platform located in Green Canyon Block 281 in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Installed in 1998, it produces oil with associated gas. The facility acts as a host for its own field and nearby subsea tie-backs, exporting hydrocarbons through established regional pipeline systems.

Field

The Morpeth Field lies in the Green Canyon area of the central Gulf of Mexico. Reservoirs are Miocene-age turbidite sandstones with typical deepwater depositional characteristics. The field is moderate in scale and was developed using a TLP to enable dry-tree wells and efficient subsea tie-back integration.

Facilities

The Morpeth TLP is installed in approximately 1,670 ft (509 m) of water and supports dry-tree wells drilled from the platform alongside subsea tie-backs from nearby fields such as Merganser. The facility includes separation systems to process oil, gas, and produced water. Oil is stabilized and exported via a 16-inch pipeline to the Ship Shoal 332B platform, linking into the Poseidon oil pipeline system. Gas is exported through a 12-inch pipeline to the Green Canyon 65 platform, connecting into regional gas infrastructure. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The platform includes gas compression systems, water injection capability, and utility systems including gas turbine-driven power generation. The TLP is moored using vertical tendons and supports top-tensioned risers. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds, flowlines, and electro-hydraulic umbilicals for well control. The facility is designed for long-term operation with capacity for additional tie-backs.
