Genesis
Genesis is a deepwater spar production platform in the Gulf of Mexico, installed in 1999 as one of the early spar developments. It produces oil and gas from subsea wells tied back to the facility and serves as a host for nearby satellite fields. The platform is permanently moored and exports hydrocarbons via established pipeline systems.

Field
The Genesis field is located in Green Canyon, Gulf of Mexico, producing from Miocene-age turbidite sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in size and was among the earlier deepwater developments, targeting channelised and fan deposits with compartmentalised reservoir structures typical of the basin.
Facilities
Genesis is based on a classic deep-draft spar supporting subsea tie-backs rather than dry-tree wells. Multiple subsea wells are connected via manifolds and flowlines to the platform. Production fluids are transported through steel catenary risers to topside processing facilities, where multi-stage separation splits oil, gas, and produced water. Oil is stabilised and exported via the Poseidon Oil Pipeline system, while gas is compressed and exported through regional offshore gas pipelines. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. Subsea infrastructure includes electro-hydraulic umbilicals for well control, chemical injection, and flow assurance. Insulation and chemical dosing mitigate hydrate formation and wax deposition. Power is generated onboard using gas turbines. The spar hull provides stability in deepwater, supporting risers and topside processing equipment. The facility is designed for remote subsea operation and integration of additional tie-backs, maximising utilisation of installed processing and export capacity.
