Boxer is a deepwater subsea tie-back development in the Gulf of Mexico, producing oil and gas via connection to an existing host facility. Field

The Boxer field lies in the Green Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico and targets Miocene-age sandstone reservoirs. It is a relatively small-scale development, typical of satellite fields in the region, designed to exploit stranded reserves through subsea tie-back to existing infrastructure rather than standalone development.

Facilities

The Boxer development consists of subsea production wells equipped with subsea trees and tied into a manifold system. Flowlines transport multiphase production to a host platform for processing. The host facility performs separation, gas compression, and produced water handling. Oil is exported via pipeline systems, while gas is compressed and routed through offshore networks. Subsea infrastructure includes control umbilicals providing hydraulic power, electrical control, and chemical injection to maintain flow assurance. Thermal insulation and chemical injection mitigate hydrate and wax formation. The system operates without a permanent surface installation at the field location, relying entirely on remote operation from the host facility. The development leverages existing pipeline and processing infrastructure, reducing capital requirements while enabling efficient recovery of reserves.
