Pioneer
Pioneer is a deepwater floating production unit located in Green Canyon Block 468 in the Gulf of Mexico. It produces oil and gas and began production in 2002. The facility is based on a converted drillship design and serves as a host for subsea wells, with export via shuttle tankers and pipelines.

Field
The Pioneer Field is located in the Green Canyon area and produces from Miocene deepwater sandstone reservoirs. The field is relatively modest in size and was developed using a floating production system with subsea wells tied back to the host vessel.
Facilities
The Pioneer facility is a ship-shaped FPSO converted from a drillship hull, moored in approximately 2,600 ft (792 m) of water. Production is gathered from subsea wells via flowlines and risers. The topsides include separation systems, oil stabilization, and gas compression. Oil is stored onboard in the vessel's hull tanks and exported via shuttle tankers. Gas is compressed and exported via a 16-inch pipeline connecting into regional gas infrastructure. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The vessel includes power generation systems driven by gas turbines. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds and electro-hydraulic umbilicals for well control. The FPSO design allows for storage and offloading, making it suitable for fields without direct pipeline access for oil export.
