Hoover

Hoover is a deepwater spar production platform in the Gulf of Mexico, installed in 2000. It produces oil and gas from subsea wells and operates in conjunction with the nearby Diana development, sharing export infrastructure. The facility is permanently moored and connected to regional pipeline systems.

Field

The Hoover field is located in Alaminos Canyon, Gulf of Mexico, producing from Paleogene (Wilcox) sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in scale and characterised by deeper, higher-pressure reservoirs compared to typical Miocene plays, forming part of a paired development with the Diana field.

Facilities

Hoover is developed using a spar platform connected to subsea wells via flowlines and risers. Production from both Hoover and Diana fields is gathered and processed through the Hoover-Diana system. Topside facilities include oil and gas separation, gas compression, and produced water treatment. Oil is exported via the Hoover Offshore Oil Pipeline System (HOOPS), a dedicated deepwater crude export line, while gas is compressed and exported through offshore gas networks. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds, flowlines, and umbilicals providing control and chemical injection. Flow assurance is managed through insulation and chemical dosing. Power is generated onboard using gas turbines. The development is notable for integrating production from multiple fields into a single processing and export system, optimising infrastructure utilisation.
