Red Hawk Spar

Red Hawk is a deepwater spar platform located in Garden Banks Block 877 in the Gulf of Mexico. First production began in 2004. It was one of the first “cell spar” designs and produces oil and gas from subsea wells, exporting via pipelines connected to regional infrastructure.

Field

The Red Hawk Field is located in the Garden Banks area and produces from Miocene deepwater sandstone reservoirs. The field is relatively small and was developed using a compact spar design to reduce costs while enabling deepwater production.

Facilities

The Red Hawk spar is installed in approximately 5,300 ft (1,615 m) of water and is notable for its cell spar configuration, consisting of multiple vertical cylinders rather than a single hull. Production is gathered from subsea wells tied back via flowlines and risers. The topsides include separation systems, oil stabilization, and gas compression. Oil is exported via subsea pipeline to the Poseidon oil system, while gas is exported through regional gas pipelines. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The facility includes gas lift capability and basic utility systems including power generation via gas turbines. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds and control umbilicals. The compact design reduces topsides weight and cost while maintaining functionality.
