Matterhorn TLP

Matterhorn is a deepwater tension leg platform located in the Gulf of Mexico, designed to produce both oil and gas. First production began in 2003. The facility acts as a regional processing hub, receiving hydrocarbons from subsea wells across multiple fields and exporting via pipeline systems.

Field

The Matterhorn Field is located in the Garden Banks area of the Gulf of Mexico. Reservoirs are Miocene deepwater sandstones. The development includes several satellite accumulations tied back to the central platform, forming a hub-style project designed to maximise recovery from multiple smaller reservoirs.

Facilities

The Matterhorn TLP supports subsea production from multiple fields connected via flowlines and risers. The facility includes separation systems to process oil, gas, and water streams, along with oil stabilization and gas compression units. Oil is exported through subsea pipelines into regional crude systems, while gas is compressed and exported via pipeline networks. Produced water is treated before discharge or reinjection. The platform includes water injection facilities for reservoir support. Power is generated via gas turbines. The TLP is moored using vertical tendons and supports top-tensioned risers. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds, umbilicals, and control systems for remote well operation. The facility is designed to accommodate multiple tie-backs, enabling development of surrounding fields.
