Intro

The York platform is a fixed steel normally unmanned installation in the York gas field in the UK Southern North Sea. Commissioned in 2013, it produces gas and sends it via a subsea pipeline to the Easington gas terminal for processing. It contains well slots and basic flow control infrastructure without permanent accommodation.

Field

The York gas field lies in Blocks 47/2a, 47/3a, 47/3d and 47/3e, discovered in 1993 and producing since 2013. Reservoirs host modest gas volumes, with development focused on a single platform tied to shore.

Facilities

The York NUI platform sits on a four-leg steel jacket and contains several well slots (initially ~2) with integrated wellheads and Xmas trees. Production fluids are routed through an integrated manifold to a subsea pipeline (~34-km, 16-inch) to the Easington terminal for onshore gas processing and entry to the National Transmission System. The installation includes remote-operated shutdown valves, chemical injection for hydrate control, and instrumentation powered locally for control loops. There is no accommodation; the platform operates unmanned under remote SCADA control. Utility infrastructure is minimal, comprising power for control, fire & gas detection, and well safety systems. Pigging facilities and corrosion control systems support flow assurance over the life of the field.
