Intro

The Clipper South installation is a Not Permanently Attended Installation (NPAI) for the Clipper South gas field in the UK Southern North Sea. Installed with minimal facilities, it gathers gas from long horizontal wells and routes production via subsea infrastructure to the central Clipper complex for onward export to the Bacton Gas Terminal.

Field

The Clipper South field lies in Blocks 48/19 and 48/20 in the Southern North Sea producing tight gas. It is developed with horizontal wells tied into the Clipper infrastructure, contributing to regional gas supplies managed from the Clipper gas field hub.

Facilities

The Clipper South platform is a minimal facilities NPAI designed to host production wellheads and subsea manifolds connected via flowlines and control umbilicals to the main Clipper complex. Production wells are long, horizontal, multi-fractured completions designed for low dependency on local processing. Fluids are exported subsea for processing at the Clipper central facilities, where bulk liquid removal, dehydration and compression occur before pipeline export to the Bacton Gas Terminal. The platform’s utility systems are limited to remote-operated safety shutdown valves, chemical injection for flow assurance, hydrate prevention, and basic power for instrumentation provided locally or via subsea umbilicals. There is no accommodation; it operates unmanned with periodic maintenance visits. The design emphasises simplicity, reliable well control, and ease of tie-in to the Clipper infrastructure.
