Intro
The Marnock ETAP QU (Quarters and Utilities) platform is the accommodation and support hub of the ETAP CPF in the UK Central North Sea. Commissioned alongside the PDR platform in the late 1990s, it provides living quarters, utilities, control facilities and support systems to the processing complex.
Field
ETAP’s portfolio brings together multiple North Sea oil and gas accumulations developed around a central processing complex. The QU platform itself does not process hydrocarbons but enables safe and sustained offshore operations for the ETAP area.
Facilities
The QU platform hosts extensive accommodation facilities for personnel, including living quarters, dining and recreation spaces, and emergency evacuation systems. Utilities on QU include power generation units, HVAC, fresh water systems, sewage/waste handling, firefighting networks, instrument air, and control rooms for operations monitoring. Communications and safety systems—including fire/gas detection, emergency shutdown linkage to the PDR and subsea networks—are integrated here. The bridge connections to the PDR platform allow for efficient movement of staff between processing and utility zones while maintaining separation for safety. QU also supports storage, maintenance workshops, and logistical facilities for field operations. The combined CPF structure (PDR and QU) forms the operational heart of ETAP.
