Intro
A bridge-linked processing and compression platform in the Rough Bravo complex (47/3B) in the Southern North Sea, installed 1983 and operational by 1985. It served as a principal hub for gas injection and withdrawal under the Rough gas storage scheme. (turn0search24)
Field
Rough Bravo sits in the same Southern North Sea Rotliegendes reservoir as the Rough field. After early production, the reservoir was transformed into the UK’s largest offshore gas storage facility, handling cyclic injection-export patterns and supporting national seasonal supply balancing. Facilities
Rough BP anchors the Bravo cluster, a three-platform bridge-linked complex handling the bulk of compressor and conditioning facilities for storage cycles. It includes gas compressor trains driven by Rolls-Royce Avon gas turbines to pressurize gas for injection into the reservoir and to boost flows during withdrawal. The Bravo complex ties into 24 reservoir wells and controls bidirectional flows, managing separator trains to treat water and hydrocarbons extracted with storage gas. Export to the onshore Easington Gas Terminal is via a 36- pipeline, facilitating integration with the National Transmission System. Utilities include emergency shutdown systems, fire and gas detection, control systems (DCS/SCADA), and chemical injection for dehydration and corrosion control. Bravo’s power generation units and control hubs ensure field-wide cycle integrity, working with subsea piping and riser arrangements. The complex also interfaces with the Rough Alpha facilities through inter-field pipelines enabling integrated operation of storage injection and withdrawal cycles. (turn0search24)
