Intro
Douglas DA is the accommodation platform of the Douglas Complex in Liverpool Bay (UK Block 110/13). It was installed with the rest of the complex for first oil and gas in 1996. DA provides living quarters and support for personnel operating the complex’s drilling and processing facilities, linked by bridges to adjacent platforms.
Field
The Douglas Field is a conventional oil and gas field in the East Irish Sea, discovered in 1990 and brought on stream in February 1996. Reservoirs are Triassic sandstones (Helsby Formation) producing both oil and gas, with Liverpool Bay forming a significant hydrocarbon province with several interconnected fields.
Facilities
As the accommodation platform in the Douglas Complex, DA contains living quarters, mess, recreation and safety facilities for personnel working offshore. It is bridge-linked to the adjacent Douglas processing (DP) and wellhead (DW) platforms, allowing safe transit between units. DA houses utilities required for sustainable occupation: galley, berths, freshwater generation, sewage handling, HVAC, emergency evacuation systems, medical facilities, and life-saving appliances. Communication and control systems interface with DP and DW for integrated operations. Power distribution on DA supports habitation systems, lighting, fire/ gas detection, and emergency backup. Accommodation platforms do not perform hydrocarbon processing but support adjacent process and drilling facilities with logistics, safety oversight and crew rotations. Structural design complies with UKCS accommodation codes, with helideck access for personnel transport. DA’s presence centralises human support within the Douglas Complex, enabling continuous operation of well and process functions located on linked platforms.
