Intro
The Cygnus B Wellhead Platform is a fixed steel installation forming part of the Cygnus gas field in the UK southern North Sea, Block 44/12b. Installed in 2016, it hosts production wellheads and manifold systems. The platform exports well fluids via pipeline to the Cygnus A processing facilities.
Field
The Cygnus gas field produces dry gas from Permian Leman Sandstone reservoirs within the Southern North Sea Basin. Development included a second wellhead platform to access additional reservoir compartments and support long-term high-volume gas production.
Facilities
The Cygnus B platform supports multiple gas production wells with surface wellheads and flowline manifolds. Well fluids are routed via subsea pipeline to the Cygnus A PU platform for full processing and export. Facilities include well control systems, chemical injection for hydrate and corrosion management, and pressure monitoring. The installation is normally unattended, with remote operation from the Cygnus A control room. Utilities and communications are provided via subsea umbilicals. Safety systems include emergency shutdown valves, fire and gas detection, and isolation systems. The fixed steel jacket and compact topsides are designed for long-term service with minimal intervention, reflecting its role as a dedicated wellhead platform supporting the wider Cygnus gas hub.
