Intro
L11-B refers to the L11b-A oil and gas production platform in the Dutch North Sea, commissioned in the mid-1980s to produce hydrocarbons from the L11b-A field. It serves as a central processing hub for nearby developments in the L11b and L8-D area, with export connections to trunk pipelines.
Field
The L11b-A field lies in the southern Dutch North Sea and produces conventional natural gas (with condensate) from shallow reservoirs. Production began in the 1980s and continues as part of broader L11 and adjacent L8-D developments, feeding regional export infrastructure.
Facilities
L11b-A’s facilities include multiple production wells drilled from the jacket, feeding into central topside separation and processing modules. The platform handles primary gas separation, condensate stabilization, and metering before export via subsea pipelines into wider Dutch gas trunk systems. It also supports drilling activities and serves as a host for subsea tie-backs and remote platforms. Utilities comprise power generation, water and fire systems, accommodation, and integrated control/safety systems. Export gas is routed to Den Helder and integrated into national networks via the Noordgastransport and NOGAT pipeline systems. The platform has been modified over time to support production consistency and field tie-ins, reflecting stable mid-life operations in the Dutch sector.
