Intro
K12-K is a fixed normally unmanned gas wellhead platform in the Dutch North Sea installed in 2007 within the K12 block. It provides additional well access and gathers gas from its assigned wells, feeding into the K12 field’s pipeline network. The platform connects physically to neighboring installations and to central processing infrastructure in the North Sea.
Field
K12’s reservoir system consists of Rotliegendes sandstone formations producing conventional gas, developed with numerous wellhead and processing platforms across blocks K7–K12. Satellites like K12-K enhance reservoir coverage.
Facilities
K12-K’s infrastructure is centered on production wellheads with flowlines leading to the main field processing and export systems. The platform includes minimal processing topsides – typically wellhead controls, flow metering, and basic separation if necessary – before exporting gas via subsea pipelines. Control and monitoring systems are configured for unmanned operation with remote supervision. Essential utilities cover emergency power, instrumentation, communications, fire and gas detection, and safety shutdown functionality. Export infrastructure integrates with the field’s gathering network, linking to central facilities for full gas treatment and onward export to shore. Offshore support vessels conduct routine inspection and maintenance of wells, flowlines, and structural components.
