Intro

K12-G is a fixed normally unmanned satellite gas platform in the K12 block of the Dutch North Sea, commissioned in 2001. It serves as a production and gathering node, routing natural gas into the K12 field’s main processing and export infrastructure. It is connected via subsea flowlines to central facilities and integrates with adjacent K12 platforms.

Field

As part of the K7–K12 gas fields, K12-G accesses Rotliegendes sandstone gas reservoirs in shallow offshore Netherlands waters. The field’s development uses multiple satellite and processing installations to optimize reservoir drainage.

Facilities

K12-G supports gas production from dedicated wells tied back to its fixed steel jacket. The platform’s topsides include flow metering and possibly minimal phase separation before routing production through subsea pipelines to central processing hubs (such as K12-BP or compression facilities). Systems onboard support remote monitoring and control, basic safety shutdown, and emergency management. Power is typically via local generators sized for essential loads (control, communications, instrumentation). Utilities include fire and gas detection, instrument air, and essential lighting and ventilation configured for unmanned duty. Export infrastructure comprises subsea flowlines linking the platform to the broader K12 export pipeline network to onshore gas processing facilities. Periodic maintenance is conducted by offshore service vessels to uphold integrity of risers and connections.
