Intro
Q4-B was a fixed offshore platform in the Dutch Southern North Sea developed to produce natural gas from the Q4 gas fields. Installed in the early 2000s, it supported gas production and export before being decommissioned as part of Wintershall Noordzee’s asset removal campaign.
Field
As part of the Q4 complex, the B installation produced from sand-dominated reservoirs in shallow water off the Netherlands. The Q4 fields were tied into export infrastructure feeding gas to regional networks in NW Europe.
Facilities
Q4-B’s structural steel jacket and topsides comprised drilling and production well slots, gas handling modules, and rudimentary separation and dehydration systems required for export quality gas. Gas export took place via subsea pipelines to shore, interfacing with the Dutch gas transport system and onward export corridors. Platform utilities provided electrical power, control and automation systems, and safety/flare infrastructure consistent with mid-life gas platform design. Following production cessation, the topsides were removed and jacket sections decommissioned in compliance with offshore removal standards.
