Intro
K9ab-B is a fixed offshore gas platform in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, commissioned in 1999. It serves as a satellite production and gathering facility in the K9 area, linking gas production to the K7–K12 field network and onward export infrastructure.
Field
The K9ab field is part of the broader K7–K12 gas province. It produces conventional Rotliegendes gas through satellite platforms tied into central processing and export routes. Reservoir characteristics mirror other K-block developments in shallow offshore Netherlands waters.
Facilities
K9ab-B hosts production wellheads and associated pipeline connections to central processing complexes. Facilities include flow metering, potentially basic separation, and export via subsea pipelines to larger hubs. Electrical power generation supports control systems, safety instrumentation, and essential utilities. Remote operation is typical, with periodic maintenance visits. Subsea infrastructure includes flowlines and risers integrated with corrosion control measures. Control and safety systems include emergency shutdown, fire and gas detection; instrument air and cooling utilities support ongoing operation. Linkages to regional export pipelines enable gas delivery to onshore treatment and distribution networks.
