Intro

K12-D is a fixed, normally unmanned gas wellhead/satellite platform in the Dutch North Sea sector installed in 1985. It primarily supports gas lift and provides well access for production and injection in the K12 block. The platform ties into the broader K12 gas field infrastructure and links physically via pipelines to central processing hubs in the K12 complex.

Field

The K12 gas field development spans blocks in the Southern North Sea producing conventional Rotliegendes gas. Wellhead satellites like K12-D extend reach into reservoir compartments and feed central processing complexes. Field geology consists of Permian sandstones with substantial high-calorific gas reserves developed since the 1980s.

Facilities

K12-D functions as a satellite wellhead platform with a limited topside focusing on gathering produced gas from its assigned wells and routing fluids to processing platforms (such as K12-BP) via subsea and inter-platform pipelines. Infrastructure typically includes wellheads with Christmas trees, flowlines to manifold structures, minimal separation if needed, and metering for sales allocation. Utilities are basic, given normally unmanned status, and cover power for control systems, communications links to central control, and safety shutdown systems. Interconnection to the field’s pipeline grid ensures continuous export of gas to downstream processing or export systems. Periodic inspection and maintenance by support vessels sustain integrity of risers, pipelines, and topsides.
