Intro
K6GT is a small satellite wellhead platform within the K06 gas field complex on the Dutch Continental Shelf of the North Sea. It functions primarily as a gas production satellite tied into the larger K6 complex infrastructure. The platform is unmanned and connected via subsea flowlines to main production facilities. It was installed as part of K6 development in the 1990s.
Field
The K06 gas field is a conventional natural gas accumulation in the Netherlands sector of the North Sea, developed beginning in 1991. It produces from shallow-water Rotliegend and Zechstein reservoirs typical of Dutch offshore gas geology. The field development includes a central production hub and several satellite platforms including K6GT, K6N and K6P.
Facilities
K6GT hosts minimal facilities focused on receiving production from a small number of satellite wells and routing gas via subsea pipelines to the central K6 production complex. There are no full processing modules on K6GT itself; separation, compression, dehydration and export functions are handled at larger nearby platforms (e.g., K6P and K6-C). Utility systems on K6GT are limited to power supplies for control and electrical actuators; detailed power generation and water handling are provided at central facilities. Gas export from the K06 complex typically routes through established export infrastructure to onshore processing via regional pipelines such as the Noordgastransport system. The platform’s design as an unmanned satellite emphasizes compact topsides, minimal habitability modules, and reliance on remote control and monitoring.
