Intro

Harald A is the principal fixed steel production and processing platform for the Harald gas/condensate field in the Danish North Sea, first brought on production in 1997. It handles gas and condensate and is bridge-linked to Harald B, which provides accommodation support. It functions as a hub for wells on Harald East and West.

Field

The Harald field lies in Blocks 5604/21 & 22 of the central Danish North Sea. It produces gas with associated condensate from both chalk (Harald East) and sandstone (Harald West) reservoirs, discovered in the early 1980s. The field’s development focused on a central platform complex.

Facilities

Harald A hosts multiple production wells penetrating the Harald East and West accumulations. Well fluids are processed topside, with primary separation of gas and condensate. Gas export is via subsea/pipeline connections toward the Danish onshore network and typically tied into the regional Tyra processing/export hub. Condensate is stabilized and sent with gas or via dedicated lines. Utility systems include platform power generation (gas-turbine based), produced water handling, fire/gas detection, and subsea well controls via umbilicals. Accommodation and common services are offloaded to the bridge-linked Harald B platform. The installation’s design centers on stability in moderate North Sea water depths (~64-m), bridge connectivity for personnel and utilities, and integration into a wider pipeline network.
