Intro

Typhoon is a deepwater tension leg platform located in Green Canyon Block 236 in the Gulf of Mexico. First production began in 2001. The facility produces oil and gas and serves as a host for subsea developments, exporting hydrocarbons via dedicated pipeline systems.

Field

The Typhoon Field lies in the Green Canyon area and produces from Miocene deepwater sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in size and developed using a TLP with subsea tie-backs from nearby accumulations.

Facilities

The Typhoon TLP is installed in approximately 2,100 ft (640 m) of water and supports subsea wells tied back via flowlines and risers. The facility includes separation systems, oil stabilization, and gas compression. Oil is exported via pipeline into the Poseidon oil system, while gas is exported via the Typhoon gas pipeline, which connects into the ANR pipeline network. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The platform includes water injection systems for reservoir pressure support. Power generation is provided by gas turbines. The TLP is moored using vertical tendons and supports top-tensioned risers. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds and electro-hydraulic control systems. The facility is designed as a hub for surrounding developments.
