Intro
Argos is a deepwater floating production unit in the Gulf of Mexico, installed as a semi-submersible platform. It began production in the early 2020s and serves as a central processing hub for subsea wells in a large offshore development, handling oil and gas production and export.
Field
Argos is associated with the Mad Dog Phase 2 development in the Gulf of Mexico. The field lies in a deepwater basin with Miocene-age sandstone reservoirs. It represents a major redevelopment and expansion of an existing field, with significant remaining reserves and complex subsea architecture.
Facilities
The Argos platform processes hydrocarbons from multiple subsea wells tied back through manifolds and flowlines. Facilities include oil and gas separation systems, gas compression units, and produced water handling systems. Oil is exported via pipeline, while gas is either exported or used for fuel. The platform supports water injection for reservoir management. Subsea systems include umbilicals for control and chemical injection, ensuring flow assurance. The topsides are designed for high throughput and include power generation systems, safety systems, and advanced monitoring capabilities. The platform serves as a hub for ongoing field development.
