Intro

Ram Powell is a deepwater compliant tower platform located in Viosca Knoll Block 956 in the Gulf of Mexico. Installed in 1997, it produces oil and gas and was one of the earliest deepwater compliant tower developments, serving as a hub for subsea tie-backs and regional production.

Field

The Ram Powell Field lies in the Viosca Knoll area and produces from Miocene deepwater sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in size and forms part of a cluster of developments tied into the central facility, including subsea satellite fields.

Facilities

The Ram Powell compliant tower is installed in approximately 3,215 ft (980 m) of water and supports dry-tree wells alongside subsea tie-backs from nearby fields. The facility includes separation systems, oil stabilization, and gas compression. Oil is exported via a 24-inch pipeline to the Ship Shoal area, connecting into the Poseidon oil pipeline system. Gas is exported through the Destin Pipeline system to onshore markets. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The platform includes water injection and gas lift systems. Power is generated via gas turbines. The compliant tower structure allows flexibility under environmental loading. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds, flowlines, and control umbilicals. The facility acts as a regional hub for surrounding developments.
