Intro

Amberjack is a fixed platform in the Gulf of Mexico designed primarily for oil and gas transportation and processing support. Installed in the early 1990s, it acts as a junction and pumping platform, facilitating the movement of hydrocarbons between deepwater fields and onshore infrastructure via major pipeline systems.

Field

The Amberjack area serves multiple Gulf of Mexico fields rather than a single reservoir. It is situated in a mature offshore basin with production from Miocene and Pliocene sandstone reservoirs. Its role is infrastructural, supporting regional field developments rather than directly exploiting a standalone reservoir.

Facilities

Amberjack functions as a pipeline junction and pumping station, equipped with oil and gas handling systems to manage throughput from multiple upstream fields. Facilities include booster pumps for crude oil transport, gas compression systems to maintain pipeline pressure, and metering systems for custody transfer. The platform connects to major export pipelines, including deepwater trunklines carrying hydrocarbons to shore. It includes separation equipment for handling multiphase flow streams arriving from subsea developments. Utilities include power generation via gas turbines, produced water handling systems, and control systems for remote monitoring. The installation is designed for high reliability, supporting continuous export operations across multiple connected assets.
