Intro

Cyrus is a deepwater subsea oil and gas development in the Gulf of Mexico, producing via tie-back to a nearby host facility. It was brought into production in the 2010s and functions as a satellite development, with no standalone surface installation and full reliance on external processing and export infrastructure.

Field

The Cyrus field is located in the Gulf of Mexico within a deepwater basin, producing from Miocene turbidite sandstone reservoirs. The field is modest in scale and characterised by typical deepwater channelised deposits, developed to recover incremental reserves through integration with existing host infrastructure.

Facilities

The Cyrus development consists of subsea wells completed with subsea trees and connected to a central manifold. Production flows through insulated flowlines to a host floating production facility where separation, compression, and water handling occur. Oil is exported via pipeline systems, while gas is compressed and transported through offshore gas networks. Subsea systems include control umbilicals delivering hydraulic power, electrical signals, and chemical injection for flow assurance. Thermal insulation and continuous chemical dosing mitigate hydrate formation and wax deposition. The system is fully remotely operated, with no topside equipment at the field location. Integration with existing infrastructure allows efficient utilisation of available processing capacity and export routes.
