Intro
The Scott JD Platform is part of the bridge-linked Scott complex in the UK Central North Sea, commissioned in 1993. It supports oil and associated gas production and integrates drilling and processing functions. The installation is one of two primary steel jacket platforms (JD and JU/UQ) tied together, serving as the central processing hub for the Scott–Telford–Rochelle area.
Field
The Scott oil and gas field lies in Block 15/22a of the Central North Sea, producing crude oil and gas from Upper Jurassic reservoirs. Discovered in 1984, the field was developed with twin platforms to handle high-pressure production. The reservoir is structurally complex with fault blocks targeted via multiple wells tied into the Scott installations.
Facilities
The Scott JD Platform comprises a large eight-leg steel jacket supporting integrated drilling facilities and primary processing equipment. Multiple production wells feed into wellheads and flowlines that deliver fluids to the separation train onboard. On-platform processing includes multiphase separation, crude stabilization and initial gas treatment to meet Forties Pipeline System and SAGE specifications. Oil is exported via the Forties Pipeline System to onshore terminals, while treated gas is exported into the Scottish Area Gas Evacuation (SAGE) system. Utilities include power generation (gas turbines and auxiliary systems), seawater and chemical injection systems, and fire and gas detection. The companion JU/UQ platform provides accommodation, utilities, control rooms, power generation, and water injection facilities. A bridge links JD and JU/UQ for integrated operations and personnel movement. Redundant safety systems include emergency shutdown, flare systems, and remote monitoring. Routine drilling and well servicing are supported by mobile rigs docking at the installation’s derrick.
