Intro
Kollsnes Næringspark refers to the industrial park and associated gas processing and export infrastructure at Kollsnes on the west coast of Norway. It is an onshore natural gas processing facility handling dry gas and natural gas liquids (NGL). Commissioned in 1996, it plays a central midstream role in handling gas from multiple offshore fields before export to European markets.
Field
The Kollsnes site is part of the Troll–Kvitebjørn–Visund gas processing chain in the North Sea and Norwegian Sea region. It handles gas landed from Troll and other fields, removes condensate and NGLs, and prepares dry gas for export. Kollsnes supports export networks into Europe, linking to major pipeline systems that carry Norwegian gas to continental destinations.
Facilities
Kollsnes comprises large gas separation, dehydration, and NGL extraction trains fed by pipelines from offshore fields such as Troll, Kvitebjørn, and Visund. Gas arriving at Kollsnes is processed to remove liquids and water, compressed to export specifications, and then routed into export pipelines such as Statpipe, Zeepipe, Europipe, and Franpipe. The plant also includes significant utility systems — high-pressure gas compressors, dehydration units, NGL fractionation support equipment, power generation and distribution systems, flare and safety control infrastructure, and metering for export contracts. Kollsnes Næringspark integrates with Vestprosess (liquid export infrastructure) and supplies dry gas to domestic and European markets. The site’s design emphasizes continuous operation, redundancy in compression and separation trains, and robust control and safety systems typical of major onshore processing hubs.
