Intro
NJORD STL refers to the Submerged Turret Loading system associated with the Njord field’s floating storage or export infrastructure—not a fixed platform. STL systems provide subsea mooring and export capability for shuttle tanker offloading directly from offshore storage units in deepwater fields.
Field
In the Njord area of the Norwegian Sea, rich hydrocarbon production from the field is stabilized and transferred to export infrastructure. STL acts as a subsea mooring/export node linking offshore storage (Njord Bravo) with shuttle tankers for oil export.
Facilities
STL (Submerged Turret Loading) systems comprise subsea turrets, swivel risers and subsea mooring bases enabling tankers to weathervane around the mooring point while receiving crude. All structural and flowline interfaces sit below sea level, minimizing surface footprint and exposure to weather. The system integrates flexible risers, umbilicals for control and safety shutdowns, subsea valves, and buoyancy elements. It is designed for deepwater operations and long-term subsea integrity, interfacing with Njord Bravo or similar storage facilities. STL provides stable export routing of crude, flexible mooring, and dynamic riser management while supporting pipeline or shuttle tanker interfaces. Offshore control systems monitor loading rates, turret position, and export operation safety.
