Intro
L9-FA-1 is a fixed normally unmanned gas production platform in block L9 of the Dutch North Sea, installed in 2007. It produces natural gas and collects flows from the surrounding L9 area, routing them into processing and export pipelines tied to the Nogat/NGT system.
Field
The L9 field is a conventional offshore gas complex north of Den Helder, developed with multiple platforms including L9-FA-1, L9-FB-1, and L9-FF-1. Reservoirs are Rotliegendes sandstones characteristic of southern North Sea gas fields.
Facilities
L9-FA-1’s infrastructure includes production well slots and subsea/riser connections gathering gas. Topside facilities support flow metering and initial conditioning before export. Power generation serves control systems (SCADA), safety shutdown, and remote operation utilities like instrument air. Subsea flowlines connect to the Nogat/NGT export network, with periodic vessel support for inspection and maintenance. The platform acts as a gathering node for adjacent installations, enabling consolidated export of gas to onshore processing.
