Intro
L8-P4 is a fixed offshore gas production platform in the Dutch Southern North Sea that serves as a processing and export hub for nearby satellite wells, including the L6-B unmanned facility. Installed in the early 2010s, it manages gas export into the Dutch gas grid and supports control/power for tied-in installations.
Field
The installation draws hydrocarbons from small, high-calorific natural gas reservoirs within Block L8 and adjacent acreage on the Netherlands Continental Shelf. The gas is characteristic of Rotliegend/Slochteren sandstone reservoirs typical of the Southern North Sea.
Facilities
The L8-P4 platform’s topsides include modules for receiving gas from subsea wells, basic separation where needed, dehydration and metering for export quality conditioning, and interfaces for power and control umbilicals to tied-in platforms like L6-B. Export gas is routed through subsea pipelines to onshore gas processing and transmission networks. The jacket structure supports drilling and production wellheads with utilities including power generation, chemical injection for flow assurance, safety systems (flare, emergency shutdown), and integrated control systems. L8-P4’s role includes acting as the primary processing and export node for multiple small fields in the L8 area and serving satellite unmanned installations via electrical/control umbilicals and pipeline linkages.
