Intro

F15A is a fixed steel jacket gas production platform on the Dutch continental shelf in the North Sea, installed in the early 1990s and tied into regional export infrastructure. It processes natural gas from the F15a field and exports via major offshore pipelines. The structure supports wellheads, separation, and export compression functions.

Field

The F15a field is a shallow-water North Sea gas reservoir in the Netherlands sector producing predominantly natural gas from Triassic and Permian formations. Discovered and developed in the late 20th century, the field feeds a conventional gas processing hub for export via the NOGAT pipeline system to Den Helder.

Facilities

F15A comprises multiple well slots tied into production tubing and manifolds collecting from subsea and platform wells. It includes primary gas separation, basic dehydration, and compression for export pressure boosting. Produced gas is routed through metering and scrubber systems before entering the offshore trunk pipeline (e.g., NOGAT) for onshore delivery. Utilities include dual power generation (diesel/generator sets), firewater systems, and nitrogen for pigging and inerting. Control and safety systems include DCS with emergency shutdown (ESD) and gas detection. The platform design supports periodic maintenance via supply vessels and helicopter logistics. Over time, some functions have been automated to reduce offshore manning while maintaining stable processing and export operations.
