Intro
A fixed steel-jacket gas production platform installed on the Zuidwal gas field under the Wadden Sea in the Dutch sector. The field came onstream in 1988, primarily processing and exporting natural gas to onshore pipelines. The installation historically served as the sole offshore anchored structure for the field before cessation of production and decommissioning planning.
Field
The Zuidwal gas field is a conventional offshore gas reservoir in shallow waters of the Netherlands, discovered in 1970 and brought into production in 1988. It produces natural gas from conventional sandstone reservoirs beneath the Wadden Sea and was the only Dutch offshore field developed with a manned platform in this area. The field has matured and production ceased, transitioning toward decommissioning.
Facilities
The Zuidwal installation comprised a fixed jacket supporting a topside with gas processing and export equipment designed for conventional natural gas production. Wells drilled from the platform were tied directly into onboard separation and compression facilities before export via subsea pipeline to onshore facilities. Power generation and utility systems supported continuous operations until cessation; details of well count and specific export lines reflect legacy design and removal activity in planning.
