Intro
Gorm E is a fixed steel jacket riser and export platform in the Gorm field, installed in 1982. It functions as the main export hub for stabilized oil from the Gorm complex, connecting to onshore facilities, and also provides riser infrastructure for gas export. It does not typically house drilling or large processing trains.
Field
The Gorm field’s oil and gas are produced from chalk reservoirs and require central processing before export. Gorm E provides the physical interface between offshore production and onshore transport systems.
Facilities
Gorm E comprises riser bases linked to subsea and topside pipelines that carry stabilized crude oil to an onshore terminal, historically via a 20-inch pipeline to Fredericia. It also accommodates export risers for gas sent to the Tyra hub via dedicated gas pipelines. Utility infrastructure on Gorm E focuses on pipeline manifold systems, metering, and pigging facilities rather than hydrocarbon processing. The platform supports flow assurance features, pressure control, and safety systems including emergency shutdown valves and fire and gas detection. Controls interface with Gorm C and F facilities to coordinate export schedules and maintain system integrity. Structural design accommodates risers, manifolds, and access platforms for maintenance, but no significant accommodation or processing units are present.
