Intro

The Scott JU Platform (Utilities and Quarters) is part of the twin-platform Scott complex in the Central North Sea, commissioned in 1993. It is bridge-linked to the main drilling and process (JD) platform. JU hosts utility, accommodation, power and control systems that support the integrated Scott area production of oil and gas.

Field

Serving the Scott field’s Upper Jurassic crude and associated gas reservoirs in Block 15/22a, the installation forms the second platform of the Scott cluster. The field was developed with bridge-linked platforms to handle wells with complex reservoir architecture and provide robust processing and support functions.

Facilities

The Scott JU Platform comprises a four-leg steel jacket supporting utility modules, accommodation block, power generation (gas turbines and auxiliary units), water injection and control room facilities. It is bridge-linked to the main JD platform where primary separation and hydrocarbon processing occur. JU’s utilities sustain operations including instrument air, potable water, sewage, firefighting systems, electrical distribution and emergency power. Living quarters support crew rotations, with safety systems such as fire/gas detection, emergency shutdown, and lifeboats integrated into the design. The bridge provides safe, weather-protected access between JU and JD. Well fluids from the field are primarily processed on JD, with treated crude exported via the Forties Pipeline System and gas delivered into the SAGE network. JU’s role is to ensure continuous operation of process systems by supplying essential services and accommodation in a harsh offshore environment.
