Intro

34/7 HY05 is a floating offshore wind turbine forming part of the Hywind Tampen project in the Norwegian North Sea. Installed by 2023, it provides renewable electrical power to offshore oil and gas installations, operating as part of a coordinated wind farm rather than an independent facility.

Field

Hywind Tampen supports the Snorre and Gullfaks oil and gas fields, located in the Norwegian North Sea. These fields produce hydrocarbons from Jurassic reservoirs, while the wind farm occupies a nearby offshore area selected for wind resource and infrastructure access.

Facilities

The HY05 turbine is mounted on a spar-buoy floating foundation with ballast stabilization and seabed mooring. Power is transmitted via subsea dynamic cables to offshore platforms. Systems include turbine control, electrical protection, monitoring sensors, and communication links. The installation is designed for unattended operation and long-term exposure to harsh marine conditions.
