Intro

A fixed steel satellite gas production platform in the Dutch Southern North Sea installed on the D12-A block of the Sillimanite gas field area. First gas was produced in 2005. D12-A served processing, compression and export linkage functions with physical tie-ins to the larger D15-A platform via subsea pipeline and umbilical, facilitating export and control support.

Field

The D12-A facility is associated with the unitised Sillimanite gas field spanning Dutch and UK waters. The field was discovered in 2015 (D12-B) with D12-A discovery earlier in 2002 and developed for gas production from Carboniferous sandstones. The broadly conventional gas field lies in blocks D12a/b and is developed with satellite installations tied back to central infrastructure.

Facilities

The platform hosted multiple production wells tied into separation and dehydration systems adequate for field throughput, and subsea export infrastructure linking to the Neptune Energy-operated D15-A host. The processing suite included three-phase separation and gas metering; umbilicals provided power and control from D15-A. Export capacity utilized a ~10-km subsea gas pipeline. Utilities comprised onboard power generation, chemical injection for hydrate control, and remote monitoring from shore via control umbilicals. Because D12-A is a satellite installation, drilling slots were limited and major processing occurred at the host platform.
