Intro

K1A is an unmanned wellhead/production platform structure on the Dutch North Sea continental shelf, installed in the late 1990s. It produces natural gas from the K01-A Unit field, feeding neighbouring processing hubs via subsea tie-backs and pipelines. The simple structure supports gas lift and basic metering functions.

Field

The K01-A Unit field is a shallow-water conventional gas field in the Netherlands sector. It produces gas from Rotliegendes sandstone reservoirs developed with modest well counts. The field ties into regional infrastructure, with gas exported to larger processing platforms and onward to shore via pipeline networks.

Facilities

K1A consists of a steel jacket supporting well slots with subsea completions. Wells are equipped with Xmas trees and remote chokes for production control. Produced gas is routed via pipelines to a host platform or central processing installation for separation and conditioning. There is no significant on-platform separation or compression at K1A; its role is primarily source collection and conduit to processing hubs. Power and controls are provided through subsea umbilicals or local generation for instrumentation only. The structure includes minimal utilities beyond safety shutdown and remote monitoring systems.
