Intro

The Mimas platform is a normally unattended installation serving the Mimas gas field in the Southern North Sea, installed circa 2007 as part of satellite developments tied into the LOGGS (Lincolnshire Offshore Gas Gathering System) area. It gathers gas and exports through pipelines to the Saturn hub and onward to shore, with the LOGGS complex now in cold suspension and removal planned.

Field

The Mimas gas field lies in the Southern North Sea producing dry gas from Rotliegend and Carboniferous reservoirs. Developed alongside Tethys and Saturn satellites in the LOGGS area, it contributed gas exports via pipeline networks tied to the LOGGS trunk system feeding the Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal before system cessation.

Facilities

Mimas’s installation is a minimal facilities NUI with a steel jacket hosting production well slots, Xmas trees and a manifold. Fluids are exported via a subsea pipeline (typically 13.5-km, 10-inch) to the Saturn LOGGS hub where conditioning (dehydration) and export were conducted to onshore terminals. Onboard utilities are limited to remote safety shutdown, basic power for controls and chemical injection for hydrate prevention; there is no significant onboard separation. The platform is unmanned, with remote monitoring and control and designed for long-term remote operation. With LOGGS area suspension, Mimas is subject to decommissioning planning with removals anticipated in the mid-2020s.
