Intro

Forties Delta (FD) is a fixed steel jacket platform in the Forties oilfield, installed in June-1975. It processes oil and gas to a limited extent and exports production via subsea pipelines to Forties Charlie for central treatment and onward export. FD hosts drilling, production wells and first-stage separation facilities.

Field

The Forties oilfield’s reservoirs are Paleocene sandstones delivering oil with associated gas. FD is one of five platforms (FA–FE) in the field, developed in the mid-1970s to exploit these hydrocarbons. FD’s role complements central processing at Charlie, with export integration across the complex.

Facilities

Forties Delta’s jacket supports production wells tied into manifolds that route multiphase fluids through an 8" flexible pipeline to Charlie. Limited first-stage separation may occur prior to export, with the bulk of separation and conditioning managed at Charlie. Utilities include chemical injection for corrosion/hydrate prevention, basic control and safety systems, and import of power from the Forties power ring. Emergency shutdown, fire/gas detection and remote isolation are configured for safe satellite operations. Produced fluids enter Charlie for comprehensive processing, dehydration and compression, and are then exported via the Forties Pipeline System. FD’s structure enables stable long-term satellite production in the mature Forties field.
