Intro
Sleipner R is an offshore riser platform in the Sleipner area of the North Sea, serving as a gas (and condensate) export hub tied to the Sleipner Øst field infrastructure. It connects regional pipelines, linking offshore gas sources with export systems to continental Europe and the UK. Sleipner R is permanently bridged to adjacent processing platforms.
Field
Sleipner Øst and associated fields lie on the Utsira High in the central North Sea. Discovered in 1981, development includes Sleipner A, T and R facilities. The area produces gas and condensate from Jurassic sandstone formations, with satellite tie-backs contributing hydrocarbons.
Facilities
Sleipner R acts as a junction for export pipelines including the Langeled North and South systems, linking offshore supply to UK terminals and Gassled networks. It receives dry gas and condensate from processing facilities (Sleipner A and T) via bridge connections. The platform handles metering, pressure management and export routing functions; it does not typically perform primary separation. Utilities focus on power distribution, flow control, and pipeline interface systems. Sleipner R’s robust piping and riser arrangements manage export flows toward Zeebrugge, Easington and other markets; structural and control systems are engineered for extended operation in North Sea conditions.
