Intro

Dan D is a fixed steel jacket wellhead platform installed in March 1975 and brought into production in 1976 at the Dan oil field in the Danish North Sea. The platform provides additional well slots to expand production capacity during the field’s early growth phase and is bridge-linked to Dan B for processing.

Field

Within the Dan field’s extensive Upper Cretaceous chalk reservoir, Dan D was deployed alongside Dan A to tap additional reservoir volumes. Water injection and advanced drilling techniques later enhanced recovery.

Facilities

Dan D contains multiple production well slots drilled into the reservoir and functions primarily as a wellhead support platform. Well fluids are routed via bridges and connection pipelines to Dan B for processing, where three-phase separation, gas conditioning and stabilization occur. Utility systems on Dan D include instrumentation and control for well operations, basic electrical distribution for safety and communication systems, emergency shutdown capability, and remote telemetry to Dan B and Dan FC. Export routes established through the Dan complex extend to the Gorm E riser platform for oil and to the Tyra hub for gas, with subsea ties and flowlines linking Dan D into the integrated infrastructure. Fire and gas detection systems and safety interlocks are installed to protect personnel and equipment, reflecting robust North Sea design standards.
