Intro

Clipper PR is a fixed unmanned wellhead and reception platform in the Clipper gas field, UK Southern North Sea, part of the broader Clipper complex delivering gas to shore since 1990. Installed in the early 1990s, it hosts production well slots and interfaces with other Clipper platforms (PW, PM, PC) for export of gas and liquids to the Bacton Gas Terminal after offshore processing.

Field

The Clipper gas field in Block 48/19a is a major Southern North Sea dry gas reservoir in Lower Permian Leman sandstone, discovered in 1968 and onstream in 1990. The field supplies gas via the Clipper infrastructure and has tied back adjacent satellites.

Facilities

The Clipper PR platform sits on a four-leg jacket and supports multiple production well slots, Xmas trees and manifold facilities integrated into the Clipper processing hub. It receives production flows from wells in the Clipper area and routes them to centralized separation, compression, dehydration and export facilities on Clipper PC/PW/PM platforms. Bulk liquids are removed offshore, and gas is conditioned to pipeline specification for export in the 24- pipeline to the Bacton Gas Terminal. Utility systems include fire & gas detection, emergency shutdown (ESD), instrument air, electrical distribution for control systems, and chemical injection for flow assurance. PR interfaces with other Clipper platforms via inter-platform bridges or flowlines, sharing processing duties. There is no permanent accommodation; the installation operates unmanned with remote control and scheduled maintenance visits. Structural design meets UKCS load and metocean criteria.
