Intro
Ula DP is the drilling and production platform at the Ula field, installed as part of the multi-platform development tied by bridges with quarters and processing facilities. Onstream from 1986, it hosts wellheads and supports production and injection operations feeding the field’s central processing node.
Field
The Ula oil field produces from Upper Jurassic sandstone, with reservoir support via water-alternating gas injection (WAG) and gas lift. Multiple platforms handle drilling, production, quarters and processing for both primary Ula hydrocarbons and satellite fields.
Facilities
Ula DP (Drilling & Production) platform accommodates wellheads and drilling infrastructure for production and injection wells, coordinated with bridge-linked processing and quarters platforms. Its design supports oil and gas extraction, reservoir pressure support (e.g., water and gas injection), and flowline interfaces to processing modules. Wells are drilled through structured decks; production flows to separation and metering modules on adjacent processing platforms. Utilities include power generation, mud and fluid systems, safety and control networks, and well-intervention support. The DP platform works integrally with the field centre to export oil via pipelines to Ekofisk and then to UK terminals, and to manage produced gas reinjection for enhanced recovery.
